Utilizing innovations from the M, 0, and Z-series—such as spread-tow carbon fiber membranes and copper-capped magnet systems—the X6 achieves performance levels rarely seen in its price range. Advanced Driver Engineering

Central to the X6’s sound are six proprietary 5" drivers. Two are configured for bass and midrange, while four function as dedicated woofers. Each driver uses a composite membrane made from a sandwich of spread-tow carbon fibre and aramid honeycomb. This configuration delivers maximum stiffness and minimal resonance, ensuring tight bass and an uncoloured midrange.

Copper-Capped Magnet Motor System

The X6 incorporates copper caps within its magnet system, a trickle-down technology from the Borresen Z-series. These caps lower inductance and flatten the impedance curve, which results in a smoother frequency response and reduced amplifier load. Despite a slightly reduced efficiency due to this configuration, the overall dynamic output remains powerful and highly refined.

Ribbon Planar Tweeter Performance

The X6 features Borresen’s renowned RP89 ribbon tweeter. Although slightly reduced in magnet mass compared to higher-end models, the tweeter retains exceptional speed, resolution, and transient response. With a moving mass of just 0.01 grams, it delivers clean, extended highs without fatigue, contributing to the speaker’s immersive and transparent soundstage.

Crossover Network and System Integration

To maintain tonal coherence and clarity, the X6 uses a parallel crossover network derived from the Z-series. Built with high-grade components, this crossover design ensures perfect timing and phase alignment between drivers, producing a consistent, accurate image across the frequency spectrum.

Cabinet Design and Acoustic Control

The cabinet of the Borresen X6 is engineered for both sonic performance and aesthetics. Made from a braced wood composite, it is internally damped and externally finished in gloss piano lacquer, with carbon fiber inserts for reinforcement. Tuned bass reflex ports and a vented tweeter chamber assist in controlling airflow and improving overall frequency response, especially in the low end.
