Wharfedale Super Linton Speakers Review: Are They Really Better?
Heritage Enhanced
The original Wharfedale Linton speaker was not only highly reviewed but also the company’s best seller. With the Super Linton, Wharfedale has taken all that’s great about the original, including its heritage style and easy-to-drive characteristics, and made it better. A new cabinet, crossover, and tweeter enhance every aspect of the sound, while a revised bass woofer delivers an even deeper bass response.
Bigger Cabinet, Deeper Bass
With the same footprint but a slightly taller height, the new cabinets offer increased internal volume. Combined with the bass woofer’s more powerful motor, this gives the Super Lintons a deeper and more dynamic bass response. The cabinet also features Wharfedale’s dual-layer construction, reducing panel resonance for a more natural and less distorted sound.
Cutting-Edge Tweeter for Crystal-Clear Treble
The Super Linton’s new high-frequency unit inherits much of its design from Wharfedale’s flagship Dovedale speakers. This advanced soft dome tweeter includes a special damping chamber for smoother sound and less harmonic distortion. The revised tweeter mounting plate enhances dispersion, providing a more spacious and immersive listening experience.
Redesigned Internal Electronics for Superior Clarity
Beyond visible upgrades, Wharfedale has refined the Super Linton’s internal components. A completely new crossover design is now split into two separate boards to prevent electromagnetic interference between bass and higher frequencies, promoting a cleaner, more refined top-end response. Premium components and LCOFC (Linear Crystal Oxygen Free Copper) cabling ensure optimal signal transfer.
Versatile Performance with a Wide Range of Hi-Fi Systems
Like its predecessor, the Wharfedale Super Linton is highly efficient and easy to drive. With a 90dB sensitivity rating, these speakers can be powered by amplifiers with as little as 20 watts, making them compatible with premium mini systems and lower-powered hi-fi amps, while still delivering room-filling sound.

Taller and wider than contemporary standmount speakers, the Super Lintons exude a distinctive presence. The ‘big box’ style is softened by real wood finishes and a refined grille material, making them a tasteful addition to your living space. Their larger design also enables deep, effortless bass.
