Occasionally in the hi-fi industry a classic design cartridge comes through which manages to meet all of the requirements for a cartridge such as decent output level, full range response and excellent detail with no harshness to the treble response. The Ortofon 2M red does all of this at a very keen price as it often outperforms cartridges costing more.

The 2M Red has a very good output of 5.5mV which allows it to suit any phono stages MM input pefectly, and the use of Ortofon`s own split pole internal design assures an even frequency response to give a lovely natural sound but with impressive small level detail thanks to the elliptical stylus profile.

The cartridges low weight of only 7.2g allows for easy mounting onto the majority of tonearms with ease.
