The Borresen X2 introduces a new level of performance to the entry-level high-end loudspeaker market. Designed with technologies carried over from Børresen’s flagship models, the X2 offers precise, transparent sound in a more accessible package. It’s compact, easy to drive, and engineered for serious listening without unnecessary complexity.

Design and Materials

The X2 features a custom-developed spread-tow carbon fiber and aramid honeycomb composite membrane. This lightweight yet rigid material helps reduce unwanted resonance and allows the speaker to deliver clean, controlled sound. The cabinet is finished in high-gloss black or white lacquer and reinforced internally for additional acoustic stability.

Driver and Motor System

At the core of the X2’s performance is a simplified version of Børresen’s magnetic motor system. Dual copper caps reduce distortion and smooth the impedance curve, allowing for better amplifier compatibility and lower coloration. Despite its compact form, the speaker delivers excellent bass precision and midrange clarity.

Ribbon Tweeter Performance

The X2 uses a planar ribbon tweeter similar to those in the higher-end Børresen models. With a very low moving mass, it reproduces high frequencies with speed and accuracy. The design has been adjusted slightly for cost efficiency but still retains the transparency and detail expected in high-performance systems.

Crossover Network

Inside the X2 is a parallel crossover network based on designs used in the Z-series. It uses high-quality components to ensure a smooth handoff between drivers. This keeps the frequency response balanced and improves overall integration, allowing the speaker to sound natural across a wide range of music.

Cabinet Engineering

The cabinet is constructed from a rigid wood composite with internal bracing to minimise vibrations. A rear-facing bass reflex port extends low-end response while keeping the output tight and focused. The tweeter is vented separately to manage air pressure and preserve performance dynamics.

Sound Quality

In use, the Borresen X2 presents a wide, stable soundstage with strong imaging and excellent tonal balance. It delivers natural vocals, detailed treble, and well-controlled bass. Whether used for focused listening or background music, the X2 remains composed and accurate.
