Technics Hi-Fi: A Resounding Comeback with Vintage Charm and Cutting-Edge Innovation

Fanthorpes HiFi proudly announces the triumphant return of Technics to their lineup.

Technics has re-emerged with a stellar range of products, showcasing exceptional direct drive turntables and elegant hi-fi components that pay homage to vintage aesthetics. This collection includes integrated amplifiers, streamer/CD players, and more.

A trailblazer since its establishment in 1965, Technics has a rich history of innovation. In the early 1970s, they introduced groundbreaking technologies like auto-reverse cassette decks and three-head cassette decks. The mid-1980s witnessed the advent of the Class AA amplifier series, a remarkable variation of Class A/B amplifiers.

Originally a subsidiary of Panasonic, the Technics brand was temporarily discontinued in 2010. However, it made a remarkable comeback in 2014. In 2016, the iconic SL 1200 turntable, which had been in production from 1972 to 2010, was reintroduced. This turntable, celebrated for its dual-speed functionality, pitch control, and strobe features, is available in various high-quality builds and color combinations. Following this, Technics introduced a series of amplifiers, speakers, and micro hi-fi systems.

Technics has kept pace with the digital era, emphasizing advanced digital products. They assert that modern amplifier designs can effectively eliminate noise and distortion, a feat not easily achievable with linear amplifiers. Utilizing innovative concepts like coaxial speakers and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Technics optimizes the connection between amplifiers and speakers, ensuring unparalleled auditory transparency.

The current product range is categorized into distinct classes: the Reference Class, the Grand Class, and the Premium Class. The Reference Class stands out as the flagship range, featuring the exquisite three-speed SL-1000R turntable. This top-tier product comes with a separate control unit and PSU, along with a power amplifier and network player. Additionally, Technics offers a diverse selection of headphones and earphones.

Returning to their roots, Technics has also introduced a series of DJ versions of the SL1200 turntable. These versions boast torque and brake speed adjustments, as well as reverse play functionality. This resurgence reaffirms Technics' position as a trailblazer in the world of high-end audio.
