KEF Enhances Q Series Speaker Lineup with Advanced Technology for Superior Performance
KEF has introduced the latest generation of its Q Series loudspeakers, designed to bring the company’s cutting-edge technology to a broader audience of hi-fi and home cinema enthusiasts. With the new range, KEF aims to elevate the at-home audio experience, blending its signature design with innovative advancements.
This versatile collection caters to both stereo and home cinema setups and consists of eight distinct models. The highlight is the three-way *Q Concerto Meta*, a modern reimagining of the iconic KEF Concerto bookshelf speaker from 1969. For those seeking more affordable options, the range also includes two-way models like the compact *Q1 Meta* and the stand-mounted *Q3 Meta*.
The Q Series also boasts two three-way floorstanding speakers: the *Q7 Meta* and the flagship *Q11 Meta*. These models are designed to deliver precise detail and deep, powerful bass, enhancing your music’s presence and impact. Completing the series are the *Q4 Meta* on-wall speaker, the *Q6 Meta* center channel speaker, and the *Q8 Meta* Dolby Atmos surround speaker, offering a fully immersive experience for home cinema enthusiasts.
Building on the success of last year's premium R Meta range, the new Q Series now incorporates KEF’s most recent innovations. Chief among these is the addition of *Metamaterial Absorption Technology* (MAT), a unique maze-like structure located behind the Uni-Q driver’s motor system. MAT uses intricate channels to absorb unwanted sound waves from the tweeter’s rearward radiation, resulting in cleaner, more natural sound reproduction across a range of frequencies.
This advanced technology, which has already earned accolades in the award-winning KEF LS50 Meta and R3 Meta speakers, was named *Innovation of the Year* in 2020 for its remarkable ability to reduce distortion and enhance clarity.
Every model in the updated Q Series also features KEF’s latest 12th-generation Uni-Q driver, promising an “incredibly detailed performance” for both music and movies. The Uni-Q driver has been redesigned specifically for this series, with a re-engineered tweeter gap damper to improve detail and clarity, ensuring that the Q Series delivers a more transparent and lifelike sound than ever before.
Other enhancements include an aluminum cone driver for enhanced bass response and an updated crossover design with a finely tuned signal path for pristine, clean audio.
The speakers will be available in satin black, satin white, and walnut finishes. Pricing for the new Q Series with MAT is as follows:
- Q1 Meta 2-way bookshelf speaker: £499
- Q3 Meta 2-way bookshelf speaker: £649
- Q Concerto Meta 3-way bookshelf speaker: £1099
- Q7 Meta 3-way floorstanding speaker: £1399
- Q11 Meta Flagship 3-way floorstanding speaker: £1999
- Q4 Meta 2-way on-wall speaker: £349
- Q6 Meta 3-way centre channel speaker: £699
- Q8 Meta Dolby Atmos surround speaker: £599

Ortofon’s MC X Series represents a new wave in high-fidelity vinyl playback. Building on the solid foundation of the Quintet range, this series introduces a more refined, high-performance line of moving coil (MC) cartridges—all designed and assembled in Denmark.
While the models share core design elements—such as a honeycomb stainless-steel body, silver-plated pure copper coils, and a refined magnet system—the key differences lie in stylus shape, cantilever material, and sonic character. These factors have a profound effect on how the cartridge interacts with the grooves and conveys the music.
Let’s break down the differences between the MC X10, X20, X30, and X40 to help you choose the model that suits your setup and listening preferences.
