HiFi News
One of the latest brands to join Fanthorpes HiFi is Devialet. We've had the Devialet 120 and Devialet 200 in store for a few weeks now, so thought we'd share with you what we've found out and like about the latest addition to our stores portfolio.
Who are Devialet?
Leading edge audio technology meets French designer chic to produce a product range unlike any other in the high fidelity arena. Devialet's range consists of four core models. As you migrate up the range, you are offered increased power, more connectivity and greater flexibility of configuration.
Devialet Technology
To achieve a case height of no more than 4cm, Devialet have developed a unique system for delivering power, Analogue Digital Hybrid, or ADH for short. This means that within each Devialet unit two amplifiers operate in parallel. The analogue amplifier sets the output voltage while the digital amplifiers provide most of the current.
All the sonic benefits of class A are combined with the physical benefits of class D. The result is stunning audio in a stunning chassis. Add to this a top class Texas Instruments DA converter, a streamer and a phono stage, and you have a product range that is as beautiful as it is formidable.
Devialet is the first company to create electronics that adapt to the signal of speakers. Used across the full Devialet range, SAM is an optimized program for your individual speaker (Devialet is constantly adding new SAM profiles to their website) that claims full phase alignment over the entire frequency spectrum and extended low frequency response down to 25Hz.
By fully controlling the amplitude and phase response of the speakers output. Devialet promises that SAM will maximise the bass extension of any mapped speaker without ever forcing its drivers outside of their safe excursion limits.
With SAM at the helm, Devialet will give your speakers every chance of fulfilling the designer‰Ûªs dreams for deep, clean and powerful sounding bass ‰ÛÒ whilst reducing boominess and distortions.
Devialet uses AIR (Asynchronous Intelligente Route) streaming technology. Designed for HD audio, AIR allows you to enjoy any computer-based content (up to 24bist/192kHz) without compromise.
To get AIR up and running all you need to do is pop your network details into the online Configurator and download Devialet‰Ûªs AIR software to your computer‰Ûªs taskbar.
Because AIR runs in the background of other programmes, you simply play your music via your usual method (for example Spotify, JRiver or iTunes), right click the AIR icon and choose your streaming method via AIR or Ethernet.
There‰Ûªs also a downloadable control app for Android and iOS devices, which lets you select input and volume level.
Devialet Looks
Both the Devialet 120 and Devialet 200 units share the same dark chrome super thin 4cm chassis, thats milled from a single block of aluminium.
The inputs are perfectly hidden under a removable sliding panel at the rear of the unit. Don't be fooled by Devialets slender physic, connectivity is something you won't be short of. Inputs include Toslink, USB, Ethernet, Coax S/PDIF and Line/Phono MM input.
Devialet units have a logo-shaped power button, which when pressed lights up a porthole-like screen displaying the amps volume and selected input.
The Devialet remote controls are a thing of beauty. Milled from a single block of aluminium and finished in a high gloss dark chrome finish, the Devialet remote controls are certainly up there with the best we've seen.
As if their looks and performance weren't enough to entice you, all Devialet units come with a 5 year manufacturers warranty.
